March 25th, 2005 Baby’s Day Out

Mia, Zoe and Simon headed out to Zilker park the other day for a babies day out.

March 19th, 2005 Aw Shucks

As Margaret and I were deciding what to get at Austin Java the other day, Mia was making googly eyes at the guy behind the counter. To be fair, he started it, but what delighted us most is that when she knew that he knew she was watching him she would turn her face into Margaret and then slowly peek back at him and start the whole thing over again. This means our little darling has now expressed bashfulness, or at least faked it to look cute.

March 19th, 2005 Mia Does SXSW

Mia went with us to a show downtown on Thursday, to see Patrick & Kelly’s friend, Kevin Devine, play. It was an awesome set, and Mia thoroughly enjoyed herself, hanging out amongst the hipsters and rock stars. She’s way cooler than her parents. Patrick took a great picture of us-it’s on his blog. Check it out, Man!

Yesterday, Sara & Simon joined us at the Green Muse to see Noelle Hampton! She has the voice of an angel, and the true talent of a natural guitarist. Her harmonica playing invokes Bob Dylan, which is fitting, because she opened for him while living in San Francisco! She is the best female musician in Austin! We had a wonderful time watching her and her musical cohorts.

March 17th, 2005 Tea Took

Today’s Tea: Organic Jade Fire
From: Central Market
Brand: Rishi
Classification of Tea: Gunpowder Grui

In an effort to get off of coffee, possibly reduce our risk of cancer and generally come off as decadent snobs, we started drinking tea. Well, one of us started and the other just kept doing it. We kicked it off today with Jade Fire green tea and enjoyed it a great deal.

March 8th, 2005 The Zilker Zephyr

Today Mia & I went to Barton Springs and rode the little train called the Zilker Zephyr. It was a beautiful, warm day, and Mia wore her little denim floppy hat. She was the hit of the ride! Then we went to Austin Java and sat outside while

March 5th, 2005 Milestone: Choppers

Mia’s got two new teeth starting to come in on the bottom part of her mouth. We have no time lapse photography to back us up on this, but I’m pretty sure that these puppies came in over night. They’re visible and out enough to feel. Unlike Zoe’s first choppers, these are a little smoother to the touch. Zoe beat out Mia in the teeth department and hers came in like shark teeth.

We had a great dinner last night at Shady Grove during which Mia sat in a high chair and entertained Kelly and Patrick by gnawing on menus and giving off smiling and quizzical looks to Kelly who has Mia wrapped around her finger. It was great fun with great friends and another good reminder that it’s always best to take babies out in the world with you.

Unfortunately, Mia is suffering from a second cold. We think it was either from the Dr.’s visit or the Travis/Jenny visit, but like last time, she’s happy as ever just stuffy.
